Becoming a Morning Riser & Exerciser.

I always admired those early risers, people that woke up early and accomplished something great before everyone else started their day; Meditation, Running, Hitting the Gym or Yoga. Part of me imagined it as a beautiful thing...the quiet, undisturbed "me time" but the other part of me, the 5am me did not agree. Fast Forward to today...I rise every weekday morning and not only exercise at 6:00am, I teach. Now, I cherish those mornings, they are magical - rising with the sun. So how did I change from struggling to wake at 8:30am to waking at 5:00am? 2 things I tried: Committing to a group, putting money on something at least 2 days a week. And getting up early 20 minutes early to foam roll or meditate on the other 3 days. Tips: If you can not hold yourself accountable, allow someone else to: grab a buddy. Do Not Reward Yourself with Food.

"I eat healthy and exercise, why can I not loose weight?" This is what I hear the most as a personal trainer. I will have my client fill out a food log for 3 days and the diet isn't bad but there are inconsistent eating times, some vegetables but not enough and normally.... they aren't eating enough. They are so focused on calories that they are scared to eat more veggies because they'll waste all their calories on one Starbucks drink. Skip the skimpy sandwich and have a giant veggie and quinoa salad - you'll feel fuller and loose weight. The biggest problem is people that exercise more over value the amount of calories burned. The think since they rode their bike around the neighborhood they can splurge and get an ice cream. NEVER REWARD YOUR EXERCISE WITH FOOD. I am not saying you can never have a cheat meal, but plan for it not reward yourself with it. And be aware of how much you are "cheating" because you might o...
